Macintosh PowerBook 100

My Macintosh PowerBook 100 (added to my collection in 2010)

  • 68000 CPU @ 16mhz
  • 8MB RAM
  • 1GB Solid State drive (2.5″ “powerbook” SCSI2SD)
  • Internal Modem (2400 baud)
  • LocalTalk network connected with my other Mac’s and IIgs.

I have partially recapped the logic board on this, my soldering station failed in the middle of working on this so I will need to finish recapping it at a later date.

It’s great to read about other PB100 users trying to keep their machines alive. I’m not sure I’m brave enough to take the soldering iron to mine yet though. Does the PB100 natively see the Jazz drive or is there some software required?

Practice soldering on some scrap boards first, and you can probably pull off the PB100, not that hard.

The Jazz drive is just seen as a hard drive (no removability when booted), but there are some oddities to formatting it and making it bootable, you need to use an OLD version of iomega tools, newer versions will upgrade the driver break booting from it.
